Your counsellor will help you develop some skills and tools to challenge any unhelpful thinking, and support you in accessing and managing emotions, so you become empowered to resolve the problems you bring.
Counselling is also a space for personal development, not just crisis management. Many people come to counselling who want to develop greater self-confidence, so they can move forwards more effectively in life with greater levels of happiness.

Making Counselling Accessible
Initially, please fill out the short questionnaire below to provide some general and anonymous background about you and the issues you’d like to deal with in online therapy. It would help us match you with the most suitable counsellor for you. Your answers will also give this counsellor a good starting point in getting to know you.
We will then create for you a private username and password to access our system. Payment will be setup where plans start from £50 per week, you can also apply for legal aid. Based on your needs, we’ll match you with a qualified licensed professional counsellor, if you are not satisfied, you can switch at any time, then, begin the counselling process in any way that you want: text, phone or video.

Level 2 Foundation Level in Counselling
This is the foundation course for you to learn all of the counselling skills, enhance your communication skills, and is ideal if you want to add a recognised accredited qualification to your CV. You do not need to have any prior qualifications to enrol on this course, however, you must be 16+.
Our students arrive from all walks of life, from those who are currently unemployed to those who are wanting to change their careers, for example: admin workers, teachers, support workers and retail, to name just a few! This course covers an overview of four counselling theories, and all of the skills a counsellor uses and will teach you more effective ways to communicate, as well as provide personal development.
Level 3 Intermediate Level in Counselling
If you have previously completed a Level 2 or equivalent you can enrol on this Accredited Level 3 Intermediate course. This counselling training will allow you to develop your skills and your understanding of three different theories, which are person centred, CBT and psycho-dynamic and will develop your understanding of the theoretical knowledge that is applied within counselling.
On successful completion of this intermediate course, you can apply for the Level 4 diploma. This level 3 intermediate training course has 18 credits. This in depth training will allow you to develop your skills competently, for you to be able to manage a full 30 minute counselling session, with a full contract and suitable safe ending of a session. There are 4 units of learning which will develop you professionally and personally. Students who are completing this level usually apply for jobs within the helping professions e.g. key worker, support worker and can use this training to provide counselling skills sessions within their workplace. Ideal for those of you who work with or manage people within your existing employment & workplace. You will be 18+ years of age
Level 4 Diploma Level in Counselling
On successful completion of this diploma counselling training course you will become a qualified counsellor. This will allow you to work in organisations as well as in private practice. This training also provides 6 free specialist CPD training days which will allow you to develop your knowledge and skills in areas such as Eating Disorders, Substance Misuse, Phobia Cure Technique, Motivational Interviewing, Mental Health, PTSD etc. This counselling training will allow you to become a qualified, competent and creative counsellor.
You will learn to blend the two theories of Transactional Analysis – a Personality and Communication model with Gestalt – an experiential model of the unconscious, perceptions and senses.
These two theories blended will allow you to be an integrative counsellor using the skills, theories and techniques of both models to apply to your counselling sessions. You will complete 100 hours of supervised placement for your portfolio.
We can provide your placement – We can also provide approved and qualified supervisors who provide low cost supervision to our trainees

The number of sessions you need, and the duration of your treatment, depends on the condition for which you are seeing us.
Our Assessment Team will talk with you about your needs, and place you with the Ascend counsellor who is the best fit for you and your presenting issue.

Financial assessments can be undertaken for individuals on a lower income.

Ascend counselling service is located in Sandwell for face-2-face sessions. We also work remotely, on-line or via telephone, with clients across the UK and from around the world.
Sessions are available from early morning until late evening, and also on weekends too.
